VLC is a popular multimedia player. It allows you to play not only video files on your computer, but also to receive streaming video and audio broadcasts. You can customize the program for the most efficient use using the settings available in the menu.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the VLC program from the start menu or from the shortcut created on the desktop. Click on the menu items "Tools" - "Options" of the program.

In the window that appears, you will see sections and items that can be changed. The "Interface" menu is responsible for the design of the main player window. Here you can select the language of the program, options for the appearance of the panel during video playback, as well as set the file extensions that the program will automatically open.

In the "Audio" section, you can specify the playback volume of the desired files, select a different card for audio output and enable various effects. In the "Video" menu, you can adjust the video codec and video display settings. In the Subtitle category, you can set the color, size and character encoding for subtitles. The Input / Codecs section can be used to troubleshoot video display problems. Using the "Hot keys" item, you can set keyboard combinations used to call certain functions. This will speed up your work with the program and make it easier to access the playback options that are important to you.
Step 4
After setting the required parameters, click on the "Save" button and return to the main application window. To customize the interface parameters in more detail, go to "Tools" - "Interface settings". Here you can change the arrangement of the buttons on the toolbar and the icons displayed in the window. In this menu you can enable additional playback functions. For example, after selecting the Step Back and Step Forward buttons, you can rewind or rewind the video 10 seconds. After the changes, click on the "Close" button.
Step 5
Go to "File" - "Open File" to open the video and check the changes in the playback settings. If you think that the settings you configured are incorrect or unsuccessful and want to revert everything back, go to the "Tools" menu and press the "Reset settings" button. This will return the layout of the menu items to their original appearance.
