Step 1
First, you need to create a bootable USB drive that will be able to start before the operating system boots. To do this, download the WinSetupFromUSB program.
Step 2
To successfully burn the operating system and additional recovery programs, you will need the ISO images of the Windows XP installation disc and the LiveCD suitable for this operating system. Create these images using Alcohol or Daemon Tools.
Step 3
Run the WinSetupFromUSB program. Specify the required USB drive (flash drive) and click the BootIce button. Select the required drive again and click the Perform Format button.
Step 4
In the window that appears, select the USB-HDD mode (Multiple Partition) option. Click the Next Step button. Select the type of file system to which this USB drive will be formatted. Press the OK button several times. Wait for the completion of the boot sector creation.
Step 5
Extract all files stored in prepared ISO images into two separate folders. Go to the WinSetupFromUSB window. In the first item Windows 2000 / XP / 2003, specify the path to the folder where the files of the Windows XP operating system are stored.
Step 6
In the fourth item PartedMagic / Other G4D, specify the folder containing the LiveCD archives. Press the GO button to write the specified files to the USB drive. Wait until the process of creating a bootable USB drive is completed.
Step 7
Reboot your computer. Press the F8 key and choose the option to boot from your USB drive. In the Grub4Dos menu that appears, select the desired boot continuation option. This can be installing a new Windows XP or running programs recorded from the LiveCD. Use the utilities existing on the flash drive to start the recovery process of the Windows XP operating system.
