After booting and during the 7th generation Windows system workflow, the screen often prompts you to install Windows 10. If you want to remove the upgrade to Windows 10 in Windows 7, you need to take advantage of unique tricks that were not initially available to users.
Instructions
Step 1
You can only remove the upgrade to Windows 10 in Windows 7 by downloading a special package from Microsoft Center (the link is at the end of the article). After installing it and restarting the computer, go to the system registry editor (press "Win + R" and enter regedit in the line that appears). Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then locate the Windows tab here, where the correct WindowsUpdate subkey should be located. If it is absent, perform the "Create" action and assign an appropriate name to the new item. Right-click the empty space on the right and create a DWORD parameter (32-bit) named DisableOSUpgrade. Click on it twice and apply the value "1". Restart your computer and check the results of your manipulations.
Step 2
Try to remove the update to "ten" icon that constantly appears on the taskbar. This can be avoided by deleting the hidden folder called $ Windows. ~ BT, which contains the installation components of the new system version. Hold Win + R and enter cleanmgr. After starting the cleaning program, select the function of deleting system files, where enable the item of installation temporary files. When the cleaning is complete, click on restarting Windows.
Step 3
If the Windows 10 upgrade icon does not disappear again, try the next method. Open the installed packages tab in Update Center. Select and exclude KB3035583 from the list. After rebooting, reopen Center and click on search for updates. As soon as the system prompts you to install KB3035583, hide it in the list so that from now on, the installation of Windows 10 will finally stop bothering you.
Step 4
It so happens that even the radical methods listed above do not help to remove the upgrade to Windows 10 in Windows 7. Users who have installed a new version of the system, but subsequently rolled back to the previous one, are especially affected by this. In this case, you can create a Gwx key in the Windows registry (the path is given in the first step). Here you need to create a DWORD32 parameter named DisableGwx (value 1).
Step 5
The most extreme method of not installing is to completely disable the main update service through Windows Center. In this case, the annoying icon on the taskbar will no longer bother you, but it will stop installing any other packages. Use this method only when you are sure that all the necessary updates are available on your system.
