A leased line is a fiber-optic or radio channel, for the use of which a monthly fee is charged. Now there are many providers providing leased line connection. Most often, the provider conducts connection and hardware configuration of the line free of charge or for a small fee. Setting up a client computer, however, is not always the responsibility of the ISP.

Step 1
Data validation
When you have entered into an agreement with the provider, the company representative must give you all the necessary data for manual network configuration. If for some reason you did not have these documents, then you need to contact the support service of your Internet provider. You should be provided with the following data: IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, DNS server, proxy server (if provided by the provider), Home Page address (the address of the provider's home page).
Step 2
Making a connection
To create a new connection, go to "Control Panel", "Network Neighborhood" (Win XP), or "Control Panel", "Network and Sharing Center" (Win 7 / vista). Select "Local Area Connection" from the list. If there is no connection, check if the internet cable is connected or reinstall the network card driver. Call the context menu by right-clicking on "Local Area Connection". Select "Properties", "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP / IPv4)", "Properties". Now fill in all the details provided by your ISP.
Step 3
VPN connection setup
Start the "New Connection Wizard". Select "Connect to the network at my workplace" and click "Next". Click "Connect to Virtual Private Network". In the line "Organization" write the name indicated in your documents. After creating the connection, go to its properties. In the "General" tab, specify the address of the VPN server. In the advanced security settings, check the CHAP password check box. Launch the connection shortcut and enter the name and password provided by the operator.
Step 4
Now open your browser and go to any site. If all else fails, don't be discouraged. The settings will be applied after a while (15 - 20 minutes). If you have any problems, contact the provider's support service.
