Even in childhood, personal computers were capable of displaying many more characters than could fit on a conventional keyboard. Today, the standard character codebook contains a hundred times more characters than twenty years ago, and their typing on the keyboard remains almost the same. Many non-standard characters still require the use of helper applications or special procedures to display.
Instructions
Step 1
Expand the main menu of the operating system by pressing the Win key. Click on the link "All programs", scroll down the list and in the last lines select the section "Standard". "Rewind" it, too, almost to the end and open the "Service" section. It contains a link to the "Symbol Table" application. Start it up. In the window of this program, you can find all the characters that can be displayed using the fonts installed on your computer.
Step 2
The ordinal number of the desired character in the unicode table is 9829, that is, it is very far from the beginning. You can scroll down the list to the last line and start searching from the bottom, but it's better to do it differently. Check the "Advanced options" checkbox, make sure that the "Unicode" value is selected in the "Character set" drop-down list.
Step 3
Set the Unicode Ranges value in the Grouping list. As a result, a small window will open with a list of code groups. Click "Symbols and icons" in it, and only 12 symbols will remain in the table, among which there will be a heart.
Step 4
Double-click this symbol and it will appear in the "To copy" field. If you want, you can add other symbols to this field in the same way.
Step 5
Then press the "Copy" button, and the contents of the field will be copied to the clipboard of the computer. By switching to the window of any application, for example, a browser or a text editor, you can paste these icons from the computer's memory (Ctrl + V).
Step 6
Knowing the ordinal number of the desired character in the unicode table, you can do without an auxiliary program. Just hit the alt="Image" key and use the numeric keypad to enter the number. The ordinal number of the heart, as you already know from the second step, is 9829.
Step 7
It is not always possible to make the desired symbol appear in web pages using the described methods. This is due to an unfortunate combination of your computer's encodings and the source code of the hypertext document. In such cases, you can use the special character sets of the HTML language - "character primitives". To display the heart in the text of the page, place a symbolic primitive such as ♥ in its source code.
