Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button and select "Control Panel". In Control Panel, find the "Update" section. This section contains all the settings for the Microsoft update service. You can also find these settings in the "My Computer" properties window on the "Automatic Updates" tab.
Step 2
Set the update mode option according to your wishes. If you want to decide for yourself which updates to download, check the box next to "Notify, but do not download or install them automatically." This choice will allow you to save Internet traffic and control the download of updates. If you do not have unlimited Internet, you need to download updates only after confirmation in the system.
Step 3
Click "OK" and wait for the update service to establish connection with the Microsoft update server. You can continue to go about your business, as when the opportunity to download new updates appears, a corresponding system message will appear. Naturally, at this moment the Internet must be connected.
Step 4
Click on the system message about an available update with the left mouse button. In the window that appears, examine the list of available update components for your operating system and check the boxes of your choice. Click "OK" and wait while the updates are downloaded and installed.
Step 5
Some updates are installed when the computer is turned off. At this point, the operating system warns you about the installation process and asks you not to interrupt the computer. Wait for the installation to complete, as a forced power off may cause system crashes. Update your operating system settings regularly so that there are no problems installing new games or various programs.
