If the operating system fails, you must use the available recovery tools. The simplest of these is using a checkpoint. But, unfortunately, it does not always lead to the desired results.

Instructions
Step 1
Use a pre-created image as an alternative to recovering your Windows operating system. Open the control panel of your computer and go to the "System and Security" menu (this method is described for Windows 7). Now open the "Backup and Restore" submenu. Click on the "Create a system image" item.
Step 2
It is recommended to prepare an external hard drive in advance, because it is such a device that will more likely save an image of the operating system. In the menu that opens, specify the location where you want to save the system image. It is better not to use a networked computer, because it may be difficult to access the created image. Click "Next".
Step 3
The next menu will display the disk partitions included in the image. Click the "Archive" button to start the process of creating a system archive. Note that it will include all programs currently installed in the Program Files folder. If you used other partitions to install some of the utilities, these programs will not be restored.
Step 4
To use the operating system archive, you need an installation disc or a recovery disc. Return to the Backup and Restore menu. Click on "Create System Restore Disk". After inserting a blank DVD into the drive, click the Create Disc button.
Step 5
In case of OS failure, insert the recovery disc into the drive. Turn on your computer and hold down the F8 key. Designate the DVD drive as a device to continue booting. In the "Recovery Methods" menu that opens, select the "Restore system from image" option.
Step 6
In the next menu, specify the previously created backup image of the operating system. Wait until the procedure for restoring the operating state of Windows 7 is completed.
