Windows Safe Mode is a way to start the operating system when all possible external causes of system problems are disabled. Only the required drivers are loaded. It is used to restore system performance and troubleshoot problems caused by software or malfunctioning drivers. Also, during startup of the computer in safe mode, programs from the startup list are not executed.
Instructions
Step 1
Empty all CDs, DVDs, and floppy disks from all drives before rebooting into Safe Mode. If you are using flash cards or external hard drives with autoload, then remove them too.
Step 2
After that, select restart from the start menu. There, click the "Shutdown" button, in the next menu select the "Restart" option.
Step 3
If you have only one Windows operating system, then after restarting, press the F8 key and keep it pressed until the Windows logo appears on the screen. You can not hold down the key, but press F8 constantly until the logo appears. If it has already appeared, and you have not yet had time to press F8, then wait for the operating system to load and reboot again, this time pressing F8 in time.
Step 4
If you have multiple operating systems installed on your computer, after the boot loader appears and the menu for selecting the system to boot now, select the Windows system you want to start in Safe Mode, and then press F8 in the same way as in the previous step.
Step 5
This will bring up the Windows boot menu in Safe Mode. There will be several options. Use the keyboard to select the one you need. If you do not know which mode you need, then simply select "Safe Mode" without additional parameters.
Step 6
If you need to make any changes, then you need to log into the system under an account that has administrator rights.
