As a rule, the safe mode of operation of the Windows operating system is used in cases when a failure occurs in the functioning of system or application programs that cannot be eliminated when the operating system is operating in normal mode. The sequence of actions for starting the OS in this mode in laptops differs very little from the analogous operation in desktop computers.

Instructions

Step 1

Safe mode must be selected at the beginning of the operating system boot, so if the laptop is turned on, open the main menu and initiate a reboot.

Step 2

Wait until the BIOS finishes and the screen prompts you to press a key to invoke non-standard methods of loading the operating system. This inscription may be in English: Press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options. The bootloader will not wait for a press for a very long time, so it is highly likely to miss the right moment. To avoid this, you can periodically start pressing the key immediately after the BIOS starts working.

Step 3

When the bootloader fixes the press, the screen will display a list of different options for operating the OS, in which several lines will refer to safe mode. There are usually three such options: the standard one, which allows the use of network resources and disables the graphical interface. Select the option you want and wait until the operating system finishes loading.

Step 4

In the latest versions of Windows, there is an alternative option that allows you to make the necessary changes using one of the components of the OS graphical shell. In this case, the bootloader will perform the necessary actions during the boot process. To use this method, open the program launch dialog - press the "hot keys" Win + R. Then enter the msconfig command and click the OK button. As a result, the settings window with the title "System Configuration" should appear on the screen.

Step 5

Go to the Boot tab and check the Safe Mode box - it is located below the button that says Advanced Options. Here you can also select additional parameters: using network drivers in safe mode (the "Network" field), disabling the graphical interface (the "No GUI" checkbox), maintaining a driver download log, etc.

Step 6

When all the required settings are checked, click the OK button, and then initiate a restart of the operating system.
