Computers have long been an integral part of our lives. They keep all the documentation of companies, carry out accounting calculations, with their help, information is searched on the Internet and with their help people communicate and have fun. In other words, it is impossible to do without computer knowledge today. However, there is still a fairly large number of people, especially the older generation, are still wary of computers and are afraid of even the simplest tasks, such as typing.
Instructions
Step 1
Although typing on a computer is very simple and much more convenient than on an old typewriter. You only need to figure out the sequence of necessary actions once. And first of all, find out which computer programs allow you to work with text in the most simple way.
Step 2
The Windows operating system, which is ubiquitous, offers users by default two main programs for printing text: WordPad and Notepad. They both allow you to type text on a computer and print it on a printer, differing only in their functionality. To find these programs, open the main menu on your desktop: Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> WordPad or Notepad.
Step 3
After opening the program, you will see a window with an empty white field. This is your electronic sheet on which you will type your text. The menu buttons located at the top of the program window allow you to correct and edit it: erase unnecessary letters, cut out fragments, highlight individual phrases, etc.
Step 4
Look closely at the keyboard in front of you. Most of it is occupied by keys with letters, as on ordinary typewriters. Only computer keyboards used in Russia and the CIS countries have two letters on each key: Latin and Russian. This is done so that you can use both Russian and English at the same time, alternately switching them with each other. To find out which language is included in your case, type in a few letters.
Step 5
As you press the keys, you will see letters appear on the white field of the text program. If the installed language works for you, keep typing. If not, you can toggle it either by pressing the left keys "Shift + Alt" or "Shift + Ctrl + Alt", or by using the language bar button located in the lower right corner of your desktop. You can create new paragraphs using the Enter key located on the right side of the keyboard.
Step 6
After typing a few sentences, you must save them to your computer's hard drive so that your work doesn't go to waste. To do this, click on the word "File" in the main menu at the top of the page and find the item "Save As" in the drop-down list. This will open a Windows window showing the files and folders on your hard drive. By default, Windows always opens the My Documents folder.
Step 7
At the bottom of the window, you will see two empty fields: "File name" and "File type". In the "File name" field, enter the name that you want to designate your text. Leave the File Type field as it is. Then press the "OK" or "Save" button. Your text has been saved and now you can work with it further without fear of losing what you have already done. In the process of work, from time to time, repeat the procedure for saving through the "File" menu or using the button with the image of a floppy disk.
