The accent mark refers to "special marks" and its insertion into the text of the document is possible only in an editor that has options for working with such marks. For example, Word provides such a feature, but Windows Notepad does not. In simple editors, you will have to use substitutes for the accent mark (Acute Accent) - for example, you can put the `(Grave Accent) icon in front of the desired letter. And how to add an accent mark to the text when using a more advanced editor is described below using Microsoft Word 2007 as an example.

Instructions

Step 1

Move the cursor to the position following the letter to be stressed.

Step 2

Click the "Insert" tab in the editor menu.

Step 3

Open the drop-down list labeled "Symbol" - it is placed in the last group of commands of this tab.

Step 4

Look for the accent mark among the recently used characters listed in the list. If you've used it before, then Word put it here - click the icon to insert it into the text. If this is the first insertion of stress or from previous use it has already been replaced by other characters, then click the bottom line - "Other characters". The editor will open a separate window to access a more complete set of symbols.

Step 5

On the Symbols tab, scroll to the accent mark. You can open the "Set" drop-down list and select "Combined Diacritics" in it to quickly navigate to the desired section of the table.

Step 6

Select the icon of the desired style - there are several of them here. In Russian-language texts, the symbol with the code 0301 is more often used. The code can be seen in the "Symbol code" field.

Step 7

Assign "hot keys" to the selected character if you want to insert an accent next time by pressing a simple keyboard shortcut. To do this, click the Shortcut Keys button and the editor will open a window titled Keyboard Customization.

Step 8

Choose the most convenient keyboard shortcut for this operation (for example, CTRL + 6). The shortcut you clicked appears in the New Keyboard Shortcut box. Click the Assign button and then Close.

Step 9

Complete the operation of inserting the accented mark by clicking the Insert button. The character of the style you have chosen will appear above the letter (number, space, or any other character) located to the left of the cursor in the text of the document.

Step 10

There is an alternative way to insert stress. Write the code of the accent mark (for example, 0301) after the desired letter and press the "hot keys" alt="Image" + X. Word will remove the character code you entered from the text and put the accent mark over the letter to the left of these numbers.
