It so happens that the familiar greeting that you see every time you start your Windows XP is terribly annoying. It may seem that changing the greeting is impossible or too difficult - after all, for this you need to change the system files. In fact, there is nothing complicated about this - make sure by studying the instructions below.

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, you need to know that the greeting words are in a file called logonui.exe. This file can be found in the system folder WINDOWS / system32. Just in case, before starting work, make a copy of this file, so that later, if something goes wrong, you can restore everything in its original form.

Step 2

Download the Resource Hacker file with which you will edit the greeting cover. Extract the ResHacker file from this archive to any folder convenient for you. Open the folder and double-click the ResHacker.exe file to launch the Resource Hacker program. At the top of the program, find "File", select "Open". A dialog box appears with the words "Open file containing resource …". Now go to the WINDOWS / system32 system folder and find the logonui.exe file we need there. Select this file and click "Open".

Step 3

Four categories should now appear on the left side of the program window. Select String table - 1 - 1049. The content page should now open.

Step 4

Now in this content find "Welcome" (usually it is on the seventh line). Now, instead of the word "Greeting", write in what you want. Just do not erase or change the quotes, everything should remain in the original version, change only the greeting words. After all these steps, click the Compile Script button, which is located above the content.

Step 5

Open the File - Save menu, save the changes in the logonui.exe file. Now you can restart your computer and enjoy the new greeting at boot time.

Step 6

If, in addition to the greeting words, you also want to change the background image, then in this case run the Resource Hacker program again, open the same logonui.exe file through it, but this time select Bitmap - 100 - 1049. The file with the current image will open. Click "Action" - "Replace bitmap …". A dialog box should appear. In this window, select "Open file with new bitmap", in the window that appears, select the file with the background you need. Remember that the file must be in BMP format. Click Open, then Replace. Save changes (File - Save).

Step 7

This concludes your torment, the greeting and background have been safely changed. In the event that something goes wrong, you can always restore the file using the copy you (hopefully) made before you started. Good luck to you!
