The inability to open a hard drive partition or external drive is a fairly popular problem. Usually it is associated with the failure of the zero sectors of the hard drive or the lack of the necessary access rights.
It is necessary
- - RestDisk;
- - Mount'n'Drive.
Instructions
Step 1
To repair the boot sector of a local disk, you must use the Test Disk application. This program is distributed free of charge, but it has already received a huge amount of positive reviews. Download and install the specified application.
Step 2
Remember that incorrect use of the Test Disk program can format the hard disk or its partitions. If you are extremely important to certain information on the hard drive, restore it using the Mount'n'Drive application.
Step 3
Install this program. Run it and wait while it detects available local drives. Highlight the section that you cannot open with the right mouse button. Go to Mount Disk.
Step 4
In the next dialog menu, specify an arbitrary drive letter. Wait for the new device to be detected by the system. Now you can freely copy information from the desired section.
Step 5
Save all important files to another local drive or external drive. Close Mount'n'Drive and start restoring the partition.
Step 6
Run Test Disk. Highlight the physical disk where the damaged partition is located. Click the Analyze button. Press the Enter key when the list of available partitions appears. If the required volume was not found, select Search and press Enter again.
Step 7
Wait while the program detects the partition with bad sectors. Select it and click the Write button. In the new menu, go to Advanced and hover over the Boot field. Press the Enter key.
Step 8
Confirm the start of the process of overwriting the boot sector of this partition. The program will copy the necessary files from the backup stored on the disk. Close the program and restart your computer after completing the described steps.
