Components on the Desktop may look different. In the Microsoft Windows operating system, the user can organize everything according to his own taste. You can customize or remove color highlighting of icons and inscriptions on the "Desktop" in a few clicks, if you know what and where to look.
Instructions
Step 1
The main settings of the "Desktop" are located in the "Properties: Display" window. To invoke it, open the Control Panel from the Start menu. In the category "Design and Themes" select the "Screen" icon by clicking on it with the left mouse button, or select any of the available tasks. Another way: right-click in any place of the "Desktop" free of files and folders. Select Properties from the drop-down menu and a new dialog box will open.
Step 2
If on your "Desktop" the labels of all folders and files are highlighted in color, go to the "Desktop" tab in the window that opens and click on the "Desktop settings" button. In the additional dialog box "Desktop Elements" that opens, go to the "Web" tab. Remove the marker from the "Freeze desktop elements" field and click the OK button. In the properties window, click on the "Apply" button.
Step 3
Additional visual effects and colors of decals or other elements of various components of the "Desktop" are configured on the "Appearance" tab. Click on the "Advanced" button and use the drop-down list to customize the display of elements to your liking. Press the OK button in the additional design window, the "Apply" button in the properties window and close the window.
Step 4
From the Start menu, open Control Panel, under the Performance and Maintenance category, select the System icon to open the System Properties dialog box. Go to the "Advanced" tab and in the "Performance" group click on the "Options" button. In the "Performance Options" window that opens, go to the "Visual Effects" tab. Place (remove) a marker in the required fields, adjusting the appearance to your liking. Click the OK button in the parameters window, apply the new settings in the properties window and close the System Properties window.
