Porting macros from Microsoft Office programs to Open Office and back is hampered by fundamental differences between applications. When using third-party macros, always check them for viruses.

Step 1
In order to transfer macros in the Microsoft Office Excel program, use saving the necessary elements to the workbook file. If you use macros while editing it, just do not delete them. If you also want the button bar to be visible the next time you open the file, use the Tools menu, then go to the settings and select the Attach option.
Step 2
Save changes to your workbook and close it. Check if the panel with macros appears. If you need to save a certain set of macros, edit it in the panel, having previously created a copy of the document. Save the book.
Step 3
If you want to transfer the macros you write from Excel to Open Office, rewrite them. Open editing a macro in one program, and then in another and create new ones already in it. Even if you migrate macros, they will not work entirely in Open Office; this is due to the fact that in these programs, despite their similarities, there are different object models, which does not allow using objects created by one application for the purpose of editing a document or book in another. Also try looking for macro converters.
Step 4
To transfer macros, also use the Load / Unload menu item in the Microsoft Office program. In cases when you use its free analogue of Open Office, the transfer of macros occurs with a similar sequence of actions. If you are unable to transfer the macro yourself, please note that most of them are available on the Internet. Even if you wrote it yourself, it is possible that someone else did it and posted it online. In this case, just download the files and check them for viruses, install them into the program, and then restart it.
