Instructions
Step 1
Download the TFT Test program. Throw it onto a USB stick or DVD and take it with you to the store. Run this program on the laptop of your choice.
Step 2
In the left column of the window that opens, select the screen resolution that is currently used in this laptop. Pay attention to the color depth and frequency of its scanning.
Step 3
Now click with the left mouse button on the "Filled Screen" icon. The entire laptop display will be painted white. Look closely at the screen for dead pixels. Press the left mouse button to change the display color. This is very important because some dead pixels may not work with any particular color. Check the matrix on all colors available in the program.
Step 4
Now click on the Sharpening Colors icon. Visually check the matrix for an even distribution of the color gamut.
Step 5
Repeat the same test by pressing the Ring Gradient button. Remember to distribute colors evenly. Now click on the "Grid" button. This is one of the most important parameters for matrix validation.
Step 6
The laptop screen will be divided into equal even squares. If some lines are crooked, then such a matrix is considered defective, and it is better to refuse to buy this laptop. Be sure to check the grid with white and black backgrounds.
Step 7
Now open the item "Moving Square". It is necessary to check the hertzon of the display and its response time. Monitor operation parameters will be displayed in the upper left corner. The response time should not exceed 15 seconds, and the frequency should fluctuate between 57 and 61 Hz.
Step 8
If you need to test the monitor in Linux, download the Alkid Live CD disk image, burn it to a CD or DVD using the Iso File Burning utility and run the monitor test program in DOS mode.
