The processor is the brain of the computer. The speed of the applications and the operating system directly depends on its choice. But how to choose the right processor for your computer?
Instructions
Step 1
We select the type of connector (socket). To connect to the motherboard, both devices need to have the same socket. If you are buying a processor for a finished computer, find out the motherboard socket. This can be done using software (eg EVEREST). Or open the cover of the system unit, write down the name of the motherboard and find its specification on the manufacturer's website.
In general, for office computers, the LGA1156 socket is usually used, for home computers - LGA1366, for gaming computers - LGA2011.
Step 2
Choosing a frequency. In fact, processor performance is determined not by frequency, but by the product of frequency and number of cores. This means that a processor with 4 cores at 2 GHz will be much more powerful than a processor with 2 cores at 3 GHz.
For an office computer, a dual-core processor with a frequency of 2.5 GHz or more is the best option; for home and gaming computers, it is better to choose a quad-core processor.
Step 3
Don't forget to buy a cooler (fan) for your processor. It is installed above the processor and nestles tightly against it to prevent overheating.
