NVIDIA, one of the largest manufacturers of video cards, announced on August 16, 2012 its new product - the GeForce GTX 660 Ti graphics accelerator. Possessing high technical parameters, it immediately attracted the attention of potential buyers.
The GeForce GTX 660 Ti graphics card from NVIDIA is a new product based on the breakthrough Kepler platform of the high-performance Titanium family, which has already won the sympathy of millions of users around the world. The attitude of the new video card to this family is evidenced by the letters Ti in its name.
The video card is designed for the PCI Express 3.0 x16 bus and is made in the form of a board in a black protective case. The presence of the case allows not only to protect the board elements from accidental damage, but also to dissipate heat more efficiently. The video card memory (GDDR5) is 2048 MB. The maximum power consumption of the adapter is 150 W.
Since the video card was presented only a few days ago, it has not yet had time to appear on the shelves of most Russian computer stores. Nevertheless, it can already be purchased in Moscow and in large European Internet markets. The recommended price for Russia is 11,999 rubles, but in the Russian capital, the GeForce GTX 660 Ti can be bought for 10,300 - 10,600 rubles. The fact that the previously released more powerful GeForce GTX 670 graphics card in stores is offered at a price comparable to the recommended price for the GTX 660 Ti contributes to such a rapid drop in value. It makes no sense for a buyer to purchase a weaker card for almost the same money, so the price for it dropped in the very first days after the start of sales.
The new video card was announced as "popular" - it was assumed that it will become a budget solution for those who cannot afford to buy more expensive video cards of the same family. But from the very first days of the appearance of the GeForce GTX 660 Ti on sale, it became clear that this video card is unlikely to gain wide popularity. In a number of parameters and, in particular, in price, it loses to its main competitor - the video card Radeon HD 7950 (you can buy it for less than $ 350), as well as the "overclocked" Radeon HD 7870 (costs about $ 270).
