The addressing system in computer networks operating over IP is based on assigning each node a unique numeric address, also called an IP address. The requirement of uniqueness causes the possibility of address conflicts in the network. If a conflict occurs, it becomes impossible to connect to one or more hosts with the same IP address. Therefore, if, when a computer is connected to the network, the operating system notifies of an address conflict, there is nothing left but to change the IP.

Instructions
Step 1
Open the window for managing network connections. To do this, click on the "Start" button located on the taskbar. In the menu that opens, select the "Settings" item. In the submenu that appears, click on the "Network Connections" item.
Step 2
Open the properties dialog of the network connection. The window for managing network connections may contain several shortcuts. These can correspond to physical or virtual network adapters, dial-up connections, and so on. Highlight the shortcut of the network connection whose IP address you want to change. To do this, left-click on it. Open the context menu by right-clicking on the highlighted shortcut. In the context menu, select "Properties".
Step 3
Open the dialog for managing TCP / IP settings for the selected connection. To do this, in the "Components used by this connection" list, select the "Internet Protocol (TCP / IP)" item. Click the Properties button below the list. The "Properties: Internet Protocol (TCP / IP)" dialog box opens.
Step 4
Change the IP address. Move the focus to the "IP address" field by clicking on it with the left mouse button. This field is intended for entering an address in a fixed format. Each component of the IP address must be a decimal number between 0 and 255, inclusive. Each component is separated from the others by a point and edited separately. You can transfer the input focus for editing the next component either with the mouse, by clicking the left button in the corresponding area of the input field, or using the cursor keys (the TAB key will transfer the input focus to another control).
Step 5
Commit your changes. Click the "OK" button in the TCP / IP Settings Dialog Box. Click the "OK" button in the network connection properties dialog.
