There are two main methods for transferring files from a system partition to another hard drive. In the first case, the method of normal data movement is used, and in the second, copying of an entire partition using additional utilities.

Instructions
Step 1
First, try using Windows tools to copy files. Remember that simply transferring files from the Program files folder will cause most programs to simply stop running.
Step 2
To prevent this error, you need to copy the folder to the partition of another hard disk on which a similar version of the operating system is installed. Connect the second hard drive to your computer and turn on this PC.
Step 3
Copy the Program files folder to the selected hard disk partition. To do this, use a standard Windows Explorer or an additional utility such as Unreal Commander.
Step 4
If you plan to run this hard drive on this computer in the future, copy the entire system partition. To do this, install the Partition Manager program or its analogue Acronis Disk Director.
Step 5
Launch the PM utility and select expert mode. Right-click on the graphic image of the local disk where the operating system files are located. Select "Copy Section" from the "Additional Features" menu.
Step 6
In the new window, specify the location for storing the copy of the local disk. To do this, you must use the unallocated area of any hard drive. Remove one or more partitions on the other hard drive to free up the required amount of free space.
Step 7
Specify the size of the new partition. Click the "Done" button to save the settings and close the settings menu. Now click the "Apply Changes" button located on the program toolbar.
Step 8
Confirm restarting the computer by clicking the desired button. Partition Manager will run in DOS mode. Do not turn off your computer or take any action while the program is running. This can lead to data loss.
