Mounting is called the creation of the effect of loading a disc into an optical media reader. At the same time, the reader and the disk itself do not really exist - an exact copy of it is used as a disk, placed in a container file ("disk image"), and its virtual reader is created by a special emulator program. This process virtualization technique allows optical discs to be transmitted over the network and used in virtual form without the need for the physical presence of the CD or DVD media themselves.

Instructions

Step 1

Use one of the emulator programs that allow you to create more than one virtual reader if you need to mount multiple disk images at the same time. For example, the free version of the Daemon Tools program is designed for the simultaneous operation of four virtual drives. The program has a Russian-language interface, a good reputation and is very easy to use. The Lite version is completely free, and not "shareware", that is, the program will not stop working after a while. Downloading from the manufacturer's website does not cause any unexpected problems

Step 2

Install Daemon Tools Lite and after rebooting the system you will find its icon in the system tray (in the notification area of the taskbar). Right-clicking on this icon opens a context menu in which you need to expand the section called Virtual CD / DVD-ROM. By default, immediately after loading, the program creates one virtual drive, so in this section you will find one entry - "Drive 0: no data". To mount two disk images, you need to add another virtual reader to this list. To do this, move the cursor to the bottom item of the expanded menu section ("Setting the number of drives") and select the line "2 drives" in the drop-down list. After that, for a few seconds, the screen will display the inscription "Updating virtual images", and when it disappears, you can start the mounting procedure.

Step 3

Expand the same context menu again and go to the same Virtual CD / DVD-ROM section. Place the cursor on the item "Drive 0: no data" and in the drop-down list of commands select the line "Mount image". A standard dialog will open, in which you need to find the file containing the required disk image and click the "Open" button. The image will be mounted by the program.

Step 4

Repeat the previous step for the second disk image, this time selecting "Drive 1: No Data".
