Sometimes the font sizes of the operating system interface are so small that they strain the eyes too much, or, conversely, are annoyingly huge. You can change them by changing the screen resolution, but this also changes the size of the rest of the graphics on the computer display. There are several other ways to change font sizes, one of which is described below.

Instructions

Step 1

If you are using Windows XP, start by right-clicking on a space of your desktop that is free of shortcuts and open windows. In the context menu that appears, select the lowest item - "Properties". In this way, the display properties window opens in this operating system.

Step 2

Click the Options tab and click the Advanced button located in the lower-right corner.

Step 3

Select a scaling factor from the drop-down list on the General tab - it opens by default. If the options placed here are not suitable, then select the "Special parameters" line and the OS will open a new window for you.

Step 4

Select the desired scale from the list or enter your value from the keyboard in this field. In addition, here you can adjust the size visually by squeezing or expanding the scale with the mouse while holding down the left button.

Step 5

Click OK when the sample text in this box meets your font size requirements. The OS will show a message that the changes will take effect after installing additional fonts and rebooting - click "OK". If the required fonts are already in the system, the OS will inform you about it - click "OK" again.

Step 6

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, then open the menu on the "Start" button and select "Control Panel".

Step 7

In the panel that opens, click the "Appearance and Personalization" link ("Appearance" in initial versions), and then the "Display" link.

Step 8

Select a scale from the options provided, or click the "Custom Font Size" link in the left pane.

Step 9

In the window for more precise settings for font scaling, everything works exactly the same as in Windows XP - you can select the appropriate value in the drop-down list, enter your number from the keyboard or select the scale by manipulating the scale with the mouse. Having received the desired size, click the "OK" button. The window will close, and your version will be added to the list of scaling options.

Step 10

Press the "Apply" button and the OS will ask whether it is necessary to restart the computer immediately for the changes to take effect, or you can wait for the next computer boot - select the option you need.
