The characteristics of most budget video adapters are greatly underestimated. This means that if these devices are properly configured, you can achieve better performance while working with certain applications.

Step 1
Before overclocking the video card, make sure that the device has good quality cooling. A sudden change in the characteristics of the equipment will lead to a temperature jump. Clean the cooler of the video adapter from dust and check the temperature readings using the AIDA program.
Step 2
Disable unnecessary graphics card functions. It should be noted right away that these manipulations can lead to a decrease in image quality. Open the nVidia Control Panel or AMD Control Center software. Go to the 3D Application Options Settings menu.
Step 3
Uncheck those features that most programs don't use. Be sure to turn off the following options: Anisotropic Filtering, Anti-Aliasing, and Vertical Sync. The latter parameter can be left on, provided that the monitor used can operate at a frequency of 90-100 Hertz.
Step 4
If possible, set the rest of the parameters to the "Maximum performance" mode. Save the settings. Download and install the Riva Tuner software.
Step 5
After starting the program, click the "Configure" button and go to the "Driver Options" menu. Activate the change of settings at the driver level by clicking on the corresponding item. Be sure to specify the 3D mode of the video card.
Step 6
Now you need to change the position of the sliders for the core and memory frequencies. Do not rush to dramatically increase the parameters of the video card right away. First, raise the frequencies by 20-30 MHz.
Step 7
Click the Apply button. Run the program for checking the stability of the video adapter. It is best to use the 3D Mark utility. Note that there will be 12-15 minutes for each test.
Step 8
After finding the limit of the capabilities of the video adapter, lower both frequencies by 30-50 MHz. Click the Apply button. Check the box next to the "Load settings from Windows" option. Reboot your computer.
