Sooner or later, the ink in the printer cartridge runs out. Then it becomes necessary to replace it. Cartridges even for old printers can be purchased at any computer store. The main thing to look out for is your printer model. The cartridge must be exactly for your printer series, otherwise it simply cannot be installed.

Step 1
Please note that the following information will relate specifically to the replacement of cartridges on the printer. If you have a three-in-one device that replaces a printer, scanner and fax, then this method will not work for you, since different models of these devices may have different specifics of replacing cartridges.
Step 2
The process for replacing cartridges is roughly the same for many printer models. Further steps will be considered using the example of the Canon pixma ip series. Turn on your computer. Start the printer software. You can replace the cartridge without it, just in this way you can adjust the ink control process. Connect the printer to an electrical outlet, and then press the power button on the printer. Wait about 10 seconds for it to start. Now open the front cover of the printer.
Step 3
When you open the printer cover, the printhead carriage will pop out. Wait until it becomes static. There are two ink cartridges in the print head, one for black ink and one for color. Remove the empty cartridge you want to replace. To do this, just gently pull it towards you. Now insert a new cartridge into the free slot. When the cartridge is in the slot, press down lightly until it snaps into place. Then close the printer cover.
Step 4
Now, in the printer software, go to the Maintenance tab and select the Reset Ink Maintenance Sensor option. The ink tanks that are installed in the printer appear. Select the ink bottle you changed (color or black). At the bottom of the window, click on the "Reset data" option.
Step 5
The cartridge has now been replaced and the ink level sensor has been reset. As a result, the printer software will display the correct ink level when printing. If the ink is too low, the system will inform you about it immediately before starting to print the file.
