Owners of printers, inkjet and laser, very often face the problem of refilling a cartridge when ink or toner runs out. Printer cartridges are not a cheap pleasure, so it is more profitable to refill an old cartridge than to buy a new one. And since even for refueling services in salons and stores they charge a considerable fee, it will be useful to learn how to do it yourself.
Instructions
Step 1
If you own an inkjet printer, refueling will not be difficult or expensive for you. Remove the cartridge first after reading the instruction manual of your printer. Lay the newspaper on the table in several layers so that the paint cannot leak onto the table. It will be extremely difficult to launder it. Place the cartridge on a newspaper with the printheads facing down.
Step 2
Remove the top label. Then punch (drill, pierce) three small holes in the cartridge. Using a syringe or other device, very carefully and slowly fill each container with ink of the appropriate color (red, blue, green). Each color has an average of 6 ml of ink. After filling, let the cartridge stand for 5 minutes and seal the holes you made with tape. Insert the cartridge back into the printer and perform a few cleaning cycles according to the printer manual. Then your printer is ready to print again.
As you can see, refilling the cartridge will not take you more than 10 minutes and will save you a lot of money, especially if you have to do it quite often.
Step 3
Laser printer cartridges differ in design and, therefore, in the refilling principle. For example, a cartridge for an HP printer always has a selenium imaging drum, and some cartridges are housed in a separate “drum cartridge”.
There are two ways to add toner to the printer. In the first case, completely disassemble the entire cartridge, remove the selenium drum unit, and put toner in the hopper.
Step 4
However, if you do not have sufficient locksmith skills or are afraid of damaging the cartridge, there is another option.
Gently pull the cartridge out of the printer and punch a hole in the toner box itself. The hole can be pierced, cut with a sharp knife, or drilled.
Be sure to shake the waste toner out of the hopper. To avoid damaging the structure of the cartridge, do not penetrate too deep into the housing. After filling the holes, carefully cover with tape.
