Manufacturers of inkjet printers make much more profit from the sale of consumables than from the technology itself. However, many PC users who feel that the price of ink cartridges is too high have come up with an alternative way to replenish them. It is quite possible to fill them yourself, but before that you must definitely rinse them.

Instructions

Step 1

Flush the cartridge in the following cases: if you intend to refill the cartridge with ink of a different type or from a different manufacturer, in order to avoid a chemical reaction; if the cartridge has not been used for a long time, and the remnants of old ink have thickened or dried; if you want to restore the absorbent properties of the ink holding sponge.

Step 2

Take a sharp knife. Use it to remove the top plastic cover from the cartridge. Prepare the place where you are going to rinse the cartridge. It is advisable to cover the table with a newspaper or paper towel, since the ink is difficult to wash. This precaution is advisable, because even if the printer tells you that the cartridge is empty and it is time to refill it, some insignificant part of the ink still remains.

Step 3

Remove the sponges from the inkjet cartridge and place them in a bowl of clean water. Take a regular 10-20 ml syringe and use it to rinse all accessible parts of the cartridge with warm water so that there are no remnants of old ink on them. Then spread them out to dry.

Step 4

Remove the cartridge heads from the dishes. To flush the cartridge completely, soak the sponges in plenty of running water. Rinse until colorless water starts flowing from the sponges. This may take some time. Please note that after the clear water began to flow, the sponges retained their color, but became much paler.

Step 5

Take some distilled water and rinse them again. Squeeze and lay to dry. After all parts of the cartridge are dry, return the sponges to their original place. Replace the plastic cartridge cover as well and secure with glue. Then you can refill the cartridge and install it in the printer.
