Step 1
If there is no sound on the laptop, you should first check to see if the sound hardware is visible in the device manager. To do this, open: "Start" - "Control Panel" - "System" - "Hardware" - "Device Manager". Find the item "Sound, video and game controllers" in the window that opens. If any of the items are marked with a question mark or a yellow exclamation mark, then the reason for the lack of sound is most likely due to the lack of a driver for the sound card.

Since the driver was not installed during the OS installation, it is most likely not on the operating system CD. In this case, you should find it on the Internet, for this you need the exact name of the sound card. Use the program Everest (Aida64): install it, run it. In the left column, select "Computer" - "Summary Information". You will see complete information on the computer hardware, including sound card data.
Step 3
Find the required driver on the Internet, place it in any folder of the laptop. Then open the yellow sound card in Device Manager again and select to reinstall the driver. Specify the folder with the downloaded driver as the source. After installing the driver, restart your computer.

If there is no sound card in the device manager at all, you should check the settings in the BIOS. Enter the BIOS when starting the computer, for this you usually need to press Del or F1, F2, F3, F10 - the specific option depends on the laptop model. Find the tab with integrated devices - it will have the word integrated in its name. In this tab, find the sound device and look at its parameters, it should be set to Enabled. If it is set to Disabled, change it as needed.

Check if the sound on the laptop is turned on at all. If it is disabled, the sound icon in the tray will be marked with a red cross. To turn on the sound, click the icon with the left mouse button and remove the checkbox from the "Off" item.
