Several different options can be used to create a local area network between two laptops. They have their advantages and disadvantages, so the choice depends on your purpose of connecting these devices.
It is necessary
network cable, USB network adapter
Instructions
Step 1
Typically, two computers or laptops are connected to each other to create a shared Internet connection. Let's take a look at the cabling of laptops. Connect their network adapters together.
Step 2
Naturally, you need a network cable for this. There are two obvious drawbacks to this method. Firstly, the mobility of both devices is lost, and secondly, the bulk of laptops have only one network card. Purchase a USB AC adapter.
Step 3
Connect it to one of the laptops. Install the drivers for this device. Connect it with an internet cable. Set up a new internet connection. Open the properties of this connection and select the "Access" tab.
Step 4
Allow other computers on the LAN to use this laptop's internet connection. Open the settings of the first network adapter and set the permanent IP address 192.168.0.1 for it.
Step 5
Navigate to the network settings of the second laptop. In the TCP / IP properties, fill in the first, third, and fourth fields with the following values:
192.168.0.2
192.168.0.1
192.168.0.1.
Step 6
In the case of creating a wireless connection of laptops, all the above settings will be identical. But you need to create this connection. Open the Network and Sharing Center on the first laptop.
Step 7
Go to the "Wireless Management" menu. Find the "Add" button and click it. Create a new computer-to-computer connection. To do this, specify the name and password for accessing the network, as well as the type of security.
Step 8
Turn on the wireless adapter of the second laptop. Search for available networks. Connect to the local network you created. Configure the wireless adapters of both devices as described in steps four and five.
