Step 1
In the new version of MS Word, document recovery is much easier than in other versions. In the program settings, it is enough to set the values that are optimal for you - it depends on how large the number of characters you are creating documents.

Click the "Service" menu in the main program window, select the "Options" item. In the window that opens, go to the "Save" tab and activate (check the boxes next to these items) the two options "Autosave every" and "Save last autosave version". Opposite the first option, you will see a drop-down list, click on the triangle icon and select the interval (the optimal number of minutes) after which the automatic saving will occur.
Step 3
When choosing the number of minutes, it is recommended to set the minimum value if you spend a lot of time at the computer, in other cases 5 minutes will be quite enough (the default is 10). Click OK to save your changes. Now any file that will be closed without saving will be saved in advance to a temporary folder.
Step 4
To restore a copy after closing the program without saving the document, you must start MS Word. In the main program window, go to the "File" tab and select the "Recent files" item. Then use the link "Recover unsaved documents".
Step 5
In the window that opens, select the required file and click the "Open" button. Then click the "Save As" button to save this draft to your computer's hard drive.
Step 6
To quickly find a lost file, it is not at all necessary to launch the program, it is enough to open the folder for saving such documents. For Windows XP - the account folder / Local Settings / Application Data / Microsoft / Office / Unsaved Files, for the latest operating systems - the account folder / AppData / Local / Microsoft / Office / UnsavedFiles.
