Recovering an unsaved file in the Word application included in the Microsoft Office suite is possible thanks to the autosave document function. In this case, no additional programs are used.
Instructions
Step 1
Restore the latest version of a document accidentally closed without saving. To do this, call the main system menu by clicking the "Start" button and go to the "All Programs" item. Expand the Microsoft Office link and start Word.
Step 2
Expand the "File" menu of the upper service panel of the application window and use the "Recent files" button. Select the Recover Unsaved Documents command and select the required file in the dialog box that opens. Click the "Save As" link in the upper service panel of the program window to save the recovered document.
Step 3
Use an alternative method to recover unsaved Word document. To do this, open the "File" menu of the upper service panel of the Word window and select the "Information" item. Use the command "Version control" and select the link "Recover unsaved documents." Specify the desired file in the dialog box that opens and save the recovered document.
Step 4
Note that if the file is closed without saving, Word will still create a temporary copy of it. If it is impossible to use the above-described algorithms of actions, these temporary copies remain available to the user. To do this, return to the main Start menu and once again go to the All Programs item. Expand the Accessories link and launch the Windows Explorer application.
Step 5
Navigate to the path: drive_name: Documents and Settingsuser_nameLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOfficeUnsavedFiles (for Windows XP) or drive_name: Usersuser_nameAppDataLocalMicrosoftOfficeUnsavedFiles (for Windows 7 and Vista). Expand the UnsavedFiles folder and locate the file to restore. Save the found document so as not to lose it again.
