Microsoft Office Excel editor is ideal for working with tables, charts, formulas. A sheet in an Excel workbook itself is a ready-made table, the user only needs to format it correctly. If you suddenly made a mistake with the number of columns, you can always add them using the program's tools.
Instructions
Step 1
Start Microsoft Office Excel and create (or open) the file you want. Use the "Font" section to highlight the borders of the table. Click on the cell-cut square thumbnail and choose how you want your table borders to be styled.
Step 2
If you miscalculated the number of columns you want, there are several ways to insert a new column. Place the mouse cursor in the cell to the left of which you want to add a column. On the Home tab, find the Cells section and click the arrow next to Insert. From the drop-down menu, select the "Insert Columns to Sheet" command. You can also just click on the "Insert" button, but the whole column should be selected, to the left of which a new column will appear.
Step 3
Alternatively, select a column in your table with the mouse and right-click anywhere on it. From the drop-down menu select the second command "Paste". Do not confuse it with the "Paste [clipboard]" command, which has a special thumbnail icon next to it. If you need to insert several columns, select the number of columns you need, then select the "Insert" command - the table will increase by the selected number of columns.
Step 4
If you created a table in Excel using the Table tool on the Insert tab, the options for placing columns on the page will be slightly enhanced. Select a column (or a cell from that column) and go to the Home tab. Expand the menu item "Insert" from the section "Cells" and select one of the available actions: the command "Insert table columns on the left" will add a column to the left, the command "Insert table columns on the right" will add columns, respectively, on the right. You can add a specified number of columns if you have previously selected the required number of existing columns in the table.
