When connecting to the Internet, most users do not pay for the service of a static IP address. By and large, they do not need it, but if they suddenly need to enter a connected computer from the outside, then knowledge of this address is simply necessary. How can you find out?
Instructions
Step 1
Open the Start button menu. Go to "Control Panel". Next, open the "Network Connections" section. Right-click on the Internet connection icon and select "Status". A window will open in front of you. In it, select "Support". You can find out the IP address by looking at it in the corresponding line in the window that opens. This list of operations is suitable for users of Windows operating systems.
Step 2
Open a command prompt to run the following query: #sudo ifconfig (How to set IP address for Unix users). If you are an administrator, enter: root- # ifconfig. After that, the screen will display the properties of all network interfaces currently available on the computer. Your current network connection will be ppp1 or ppp0. You can find out the IP address by looking at it in the line after the word inetaddr.
Step 3
Follow the links: https://2ip.ru and https://speed-tester.info. This is necessary in order to find out the IP address, which for some reason is masked by the provider. After testing the specified sites, you will be able to see the IP address in the list of other information, such as connection speed, stability, etc. Please note that if the value "in use" is indicated in the "Proxy" line, this means that your connection is made through an intermediate server, so it is not possible to find out the IP by proxy. This type of connection is usually used by large organizations and companies with an extensive internal local area network that connects the entire enterprise
Step 4
If you are connected to the Internet via a router, to find out the IP address, go to the status panel of the router. In the line "external IP-address" you can find out the information you are interested in.
