Working through a proxy server allows you not to reveal your real ip-address when visiting web pages. But in order to work anonymously on the network, you should be able to find a suitable server and properly configure your browser. In particular, you need to enter the proxy address and the port it uses.

Instructions

Step 1

When searching in open sources, the user usually comes across lists of proxy servers. Each line of the list contains the ip-address and the number of the used port. The standard entry looks like this: 85.195.96.141:8080, where 85.195.96.141 is the server ip-address, and 8080 is the port it uses.

Step 2

If you are using Internet Explorer, to configure the connection, open Internet Options - Connections - Settings and enter the proxy server details. When working in Firefox, you will need the "Tools" - "Options" - "Advanced" - "Network" - "Customize" tab. Those who use the Opera browser should open "Service" - "Settings" - "Advanced" - "Network" - "Proxy servers".

Step 3

What if you only know the server ip, but not the port it uses? You should be aware that the vast majority of proxy servers work through standard ports. Most often there are three ports: 80, 8080, 3128. If you do not know the port number, try substituting them one by one in the browser settings. The probability that you will find the right one among them is very high.

Step 4

If the server does not work with the indicated ports, try substituting these: 8081, 8083, 808, 3129. They are also used quite often, so you have a chance of success. There are other encountered ports, but it makes no sense to enumerate them, since the probability of guessing the correct one is already too small.

Step 5

In the event that you are sure of the server's performance and want to enter the network through it, try scanning it for open ports. To do this, use the XSpider scanner, you can find it on the Internet. By specifying the server address, you will receive a full report on the ports open on it. One of them will be the one you are looking for.

Step 6

Use an Nmap scanner for port scanning. The program exists in two versions - console and gui-interface. The Metasploit software package has very large capabilities for collecting information about ports (and not only), you can download versions for both Windows and Linux: https://www.metasploit.com/download/ Metasploit includes a perfectly working the console version of the Nmap scanner.
