When the power supply is connected to the computer, the boot process begins. BIOS (Basic In-Out System) launches the POST (Power On Self Test) program, which polls the main devices of the computer. If the test is successful, the speaker emits a short single beep, and the operating system starts loading.
Instructions
Step 1
If your computer has different systems, use the cursor keys to select the required logical drive and confirm the selection by clicking OK.
Step 2
Depending on which OS Windows logon options you have set, this may be a welcome screen or a classic logon. In the first case, you just need to click on your account, in the second you need to enter a password. Secure login can be useful if, besides you, someone else has access to the computer with whom you do not want to share confidential information.
Step 3
If your computer malfunctions, you may need to log on to the system in safe mode. After the boot is complete, press F8. In the "Menu for additional boot options" use the control keys to select "Safe Mode". Confirm the choice of safe mode when prompted, otherwise the system recovery process will start. If you think that the computer problems are caused by recently installed drivers or programs, remove them using Windows and restart the computer normally.
Step 4
Sometimes it becomes necessary to boot not from a hard disk, but from a USB flash drive, optical disk or floppy disk. Reboot your computer. After the POST signal, the message “Press Delete to Setup” appears at the bottom of the screen. Instead of Delete, there may be some other key, usually F2, F10, or Esc. Click it to enter the BIOS menu. Find Boot Record or Boot Menu. Using the keys that are indicated in the help, set the boot order from the media. For example: - FDD;
- CD-ROM;
- HDD Press F10 to save changes and exit BIOS settings. Confirm the decision by pressing Y.
Step 5
The BIOS provides the ability to turn on the computer without using the Power button on the front panel. Go to the Power Management Setup menu and select the Restore on AC / Power Loss option. Set the value to Power On. The computer will now turn on as soon as you connect it to a power source.
