Widows, which has long been familiar and understandable to everyone, has recently received a serious competitor in the face of a number of Linux-like systems. By successfully developing the KDE graphical environment, these operating systems, along with their initial advantages, also receive a user-oriented interface. Using KDE tools in Linux, you can easily control the operation of various devices connected to the system. In particular, the graphical program management mode will help to install any type of printer in Linux.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the Program Management Service in KDE for your Linux OS. To do this, switch from console mode to the graphical shell. Press the "Alt - F7" buttons on the keyboard at the same time. On the taskbar, expand the main menu of the system. Select "Add or Remove Programs" in it.
Step 2
A window will appear on the screen in which the system will ask you to enter the administrator password. All actions in Linux, as a result of which the OS system settings are changed, can be performed only by the administrator - the root user. In the corresponding field in the window, write the password for the root user. Click the "Ok" button.
Step 3
A service window will appear for installing and removing various software packages in Linux, as well as configuring the functioning of peripheral devices. In the left drop-down list of the service window, select the "Graphical Packages" category, which includes the printer support software. In the right drop-down list, put the "All" item in the list.
Step 4
The left side of the service window contains a list of all applications that can be installed for this operating system. Find the line "Printers" in this list and select it with the mouse.
Step 5
On the right side of this window, you will see all the programs necessary for the print service to work in Linux. For each program in the list, select the check box to install the printer application.
Step 6
Some software packages require additional installation of related applications. The system will ask you to add them in a special window when you select the checkboxes for software packages. Allow the service to install all related components required for the printer to function. To do this, in the window that appears, click the "OK" button.
Step 7
After checking all the boxes, finish installing the printer in the Program Management Service. To do this, click the "Apply" button in the window. The system will specify again all the installed packages. Confirm the installation with the "Ok" button, after which the printer will be installed in Linux.
