Often the choice remains with external hard drives. they are compact and mobile. So how do you connect them?

In fact, connecting an external hard drive in itself is not difficult. The most important thing is to use a working USB connector.

So, in order to connect an external hard drive to a computer, it is not at all necessary to turn off the latter. Modern operating systems are plug-and-play, which literally means "plug and play / play." This means that the system will detect the new device in real time and no reboot is required.
Step 3
External drives often come with a USB cable divided into 2 USB plugs. This means that you can use a single plug, which will reduce the power consumption of the drive. However, remember that the data transfer rate in this case will be approximately half as much as when connecting two plugs at once.
Step 4
Consider what type of device your hard drive will interact with. If this is a laptop running on batteries, then it is better, of course, to use 1 branch of the cable. If the laptop or computer is powered by the network, then feel free to use both branches of the cord and make the most of the potential of the external drive.
Step 5
Find a USB connector on your computer to connect the drive.

After connecting, the system will notify you that new equipment has been found and it is ready to use.

If this does not happen, then try using a different connector, for example, located on the back wall of your system unit. If you have tried all the connectors, but there is no result, then there may be two conclusions - either you should contact the seller of the external drive in order to replace it, or it is worth checking the motherboard - perhaps the problem lies in it.
