If you set out to connect two monitors to one system unit, then consider a few nuances. It is necessary not only to correctly connect both devices, but also to configure their synchronous operation.
Instructions
Step 1
Examine the connectors on both of your monitors. The fact is that computer video cards, as a rule, are endowed with two or three video signal transmission channels. These are usually DVI and VGA connectors. Many older monitors only have a VGA connector. To connect two monitors with these channels, purchase an additional DVI-VGA adapter or similar cable. Naturally, the quality of an analog signal is incomparable with a digital one.
Step 2
Turn on your computer and wait until the operating system is fully loaded. Connect the second monitor to AC power and turn it on. Connect this display to the selected video adapter connector on your computer. Open Control Panel and select the Appearance and Personalization menu. Find the submenu "Display" and open the item "Connect external display".
Step 3
Click the "Find" button located at the top of the menu that appears. Wait for the second display to be defined. Now think about which of the monitors will be the main one. Select its graphic image and activate the item "Make this screen the main one". This option is located at the bottom of the working window.
Step 4
Select the option of synchronous operation of both monitors. There are two main types: duplication and expansion. The first option is usually used when connecting a TV or projector. After activating it, an identical image will be displayed on both displays. With Expand Screen, you get a single desktop with two displays.
Step 5
Activate the function that suits you. Remember that when you use the Duplicate Screens option, the resolutions of both monitors will automatically be aligned. This can cause a widescreen Full HD monitor to display lower quality images.
