Optical discs can become damaged over time and are often scratched, which can interfere with normal disc reading. Therefore, it is necessary to occasionally polish CDs and DVDs from your collection.

Instructions
Step 1
Select the area you want to polish on the disc to remove scratches from the DVD or CD. Place a blank sheet of paper on a table or any flat surface. Place the DVD on a sheet of paper, scratch up, then soak the flannel in white spirit. Rub it with GOI paste. On the flannel, you get a paste in the form of porridge. Lightly polish the disc in the area of the scratch. Remember the location of the scratch in advance, as the damage will gradually disappear.
Step 2
Carry out a polishing motion along the radius of the disc, never around the circumference. Otherwise, you will simply damage all tracks on the disc, but you will not recover the information in any way. Grind the disc, during which the surface material is removed to a shallow depth.
Step 3
That is, a depression will appear in the area of the scratch, so sand down the adjacent areas to smooth the depression. After you are done, rinse off any excess from the soap disc with warm water. The sink must then be washed. After polishing, the treated surface is cloudy, but this does not interfere with the laser.
Step 4
Use other disc restoration methods: polishing the disc with a soft cloth, cotton or silk. Before doing this, blow off the dust particles to avoid new scratches. Make all movements from the center to the edges. Wipe the disc with an antistatic cloth, available at a computer store.
Step 5
Place the disc in the freezer for half an hour after wrapping it in a bag. Wipe the disc with dish detergent with a soft cloth, you can also wipe it with a cloth. After that, try to create an image from the damaged disk, and copy the information from the image. It happens that creating a virtual disk forces the drive to read the data more carefully. Try to insert the disc into another drive, change the CD reading speed.
