A flash drive is a high-tech device that can store various information. Naturally, in addition to files, shortcuts, folders and other things, it can store malicious programs that can cause errors and malfunctions.
By themselves, problems with flash drives can be attributed to a variety of small ones, but, unfortunately, even such small problems can be quite unpleasant. Perhaps for many it is easier to buy a new USB flash drive than to figure out what happened to it and how to solve an urgent problem. Moreover, today they are sold literally everywhere. But sometimes a flash drive with a large amount of memory can be very expensive, and the information stored on it can be very important. In order to avoid any unforeseen troubles in the future, the user needs to regularly check his device for errors and malicious software, especially since this can be done easily and quickly.
Checking through the command line
You can check the USB flash drive using the standard tools of the Windows operating system. To do this, you need to run the command line. This can be done in the "Start" menu, the "Run" item. In the window that appears, enter the chkdsk g: / f command. Instead of the letter g, substitute the letter that designates the flash drive on the user's computer (you can see this in "My Computer"). This procedure will help identify bad sectors and various kinds of errors. In addition, such manipulations can solve most of the problems associated with a flash drive in one way or another. When the verification procedure is completed, the user will be presented with a special report, which will contain a list of detected problems and a list of resolved ones.
Checking with additional software
Naturally, in addition to the standard Widnows software, there are many other utilities that can also check the USB flash drive for various errors. For example, the user can take advantage of the capabilities of the Check Flash program. It is one of the most effective, but, unfortunately, it will completely delete all information on the device. Therefore, you first need to copy important files to your computer, and only then check the USB flash drive. In the main window of the Check Flash program, you need to put a tick in front of the "As a physical device" field, and in the "Access type" item, set the name of the flash drive. In the field "Device" mark "Stability of reading" and then - "Action". When everything is done, you can press the "Start" button and wait for the end of the check.
You can also use the USB Security program, the principle of which is almost the same as the previous version. In the "Settings", the user must set the necessary values (select an action and a flash drive), after which the check can be started.
