Sometimes, while working at a computer, users notice that folders that were recently located in one place or another have disappeared somewhere. They could disappear due to various manipulations with the system.
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure you or others have not accidentally hidden the folders you want. To do this, go to Control Panel and select Folder Options. Find the item "Do not show hidden folders" and uncheck it. Now go back to the directory where your folder was located. If it appeared, but in the form of a translucent icon, then it really became hidden. Click on it with the right mouse button and uncheck the "Hidden" item. Now you can hide unnecessary folders in the "Control Panel" again, but the one you need will remain visible.
Step 2
Take a look at the "Trash", which is usually located on the desktop. Perhaps you accidentally deleted the folders you need, and after that they should be right here. Return them back by dragging with the mouse or choosing the "Restore" function.
Step 3
Search for a folder on your computer. To do this, press the key combination Win + F. If your computer is running Windows Vista or higher, you will find the search bar in the Start menu. Enter the name of the folder or part of it in the corresponding field and specify the necessary search parameters. You can also specify whether the computer should search hidden folders.
Step 4
Consider if you could have moved the folder to a different location yourself. Also, other computer users could have done this, so it is useful to ask them about it. Often, the disappearance of folders occurs due to the fault of various viruses. Be sure to check the system with an antivirus.
Step 5
Restore the system to the state it was before the folders disappeared. The corresponding function is located in the "Utilities" section of the "Start" menu. Select the restore point you need and wait until the system returns to a previous state. In this case, all deleted folders and files are most often successfully restored.
