Any computer that is morally outdated, but continues to work properly, can be used as a full-fledged home theater. To do this, you need to at least connect it to a TV and a music center, and, if necessary, install additional equipment. For example, connect a DVD drive to watch a movie.

Instructions

Step 1

Turn off and completely de-energize the computer system unit. To connect a DVD drive, remove the side cover of the case - this will allow access to the motherboard and the stuffing of the system unit. First, on the front side of the case, remove the plug in the place where you want to connect the DVD drive.

Step 2

Depending on which interface of data exchange between devices and the motherboard is supported by the system: IDE or SATA, the order of connecting the drive will be slightly different. However, in general, the principle of installation remains the same. The connection interface is easy to identify visually. IDE cables are attached with wide multi-pin connectors. The SATA interface uses a narrow, thin connector. At the same time, two devices can be connected to an IDE cable, and only one to SATA. Also, IDE interface devices require manual prioritization. Special jumpers-jumpers set the corresponding status of the Master or Slave equipment.

Step 3

Having dealt with the interface, connect the wire connectors to the corresponding outputs on the DVD drive. Don't forget about the power cord. Insert the DVD drive into the special sled provided by the system unit design. Secure it with small screws.

Step 4

Turn on your computer. At the beginning of the download, the motherboard must determine the connected DVD drive by displaying information about it on the screen. If this does not happen, go into the BIOS and force the DVD drive to be detected.
