You can simultaneously connect two computers to the Internet using a router or a direct computer-to-computer connection. Despite the high cost of the first method, it is much more convenient to operate computers using a router.

Necessary

  • - network cable (patch cord);
  • - LAN card.

Instructions

Step 1

In the event that you want to configure the connection of computers to the Internet without using a router, purchase an additional network card. Better to use a device that connects to the motherboard through the PCI port. Install the network card on a computer that is connected to the Internet and update the drivers for this equipment.

Step 2

Purchase a reverse crimp network cable or crimp the twisted pair yourself. Connect the LAN connectors to the network cards of both computers. Now you just need to properly configure the parameters of the network adapters of both PCs.

Step 3

Turn on the first computer. After loading the operating system, go to the list of active network connections. Open the Internet connection settings menu and select the "Access" submenu.

Step 4

Check the box next to Allow other network users to connect to the Internet. Select the required local network from the available options. Click the "Apply" and Ok buttons.

Step 5

Open the properties of the network card connected with a cable to another computer. Navigate to the TCP / IP (v4) Options dialog box. Enter a static IP address different from the address of the first network card. Save the settings and proceed with setting up the second computer.

Step 6

Open the list of network connections and go to the parameters of the network card connected to the first PC. Select "Internet Protocol TCP / IP (v4)". Fill in the "IP address" field. Use a value that differs only by the fourth segment from the IP address of the first PC's card.

Step 7

In the Default Gateway field, enter the IP address of the second NIC on the first computer. Click the Apply button and close the dialog. Check the health of your network.
