Patches are special small utilities designed to perform certain operations with program files. Removing changes made with their help is possible in very rare cases.

Instructions
Step 1
Go to "Add or Remove Programs" in the computer control panel menu. Find the patch you installed in the list and select the "Uninstall" option. If the uninstall program prompts you to uninstall the game completely (this happens in most cases), do not do this, as all progress will be deleted as well.
Step 2
Back up your Stalker save files. To do this, make hidden files and folders visible by opening the "Folder Options" menu item in the control panel. Select the second tab, scroll all the way down and check the box next to Show hidden folders and files. Apply and save your changes.
Step 3
Open "My Computer" and go to the Documents and Settings directory, then - All Users and "Documents". In it you will find a hidden folder called Stalker-shoc. Copy its contents to any folder on your computer that is not related to this game. Go to your computer's control panel and open Add or Remove Programs.
Step 4
Select the Stalker game from the list and completely remove it from your computer. After that, clear the contents of the game directory in Program Files and the one in which the save files were located. Reboot your computer. Install the game on your computer, run it so that it automatically creates the necessary folders. Then return the save files to the directory from which you copied them.
Step 5
If you are not satisfied with the option of reinstalling the game, use the operating system recovery. However, be careful, there are also disadvantages here - there should be a rollback point before installing the patch, and between the moment of its creation and its installation, as little time as possible should pass. Also, System Restore will remove all programs and settings for the period from its creation to the current moment.
Step 6
Open the list of programs in the "Start" menu and select "System Restore" from the standard utility utilities. Use the menu arrows to select the date the operating system was restored and follow the instructions on the menu to roll back the changes. Wait for your computer to restart. Before restoring, it will not be superfluous to make a backup copy of the save files.
