Files with the.sys extension are system files, and together with the.inf description files, they often make up various drivers for your computer's hardware. If your hardware driver is just sys and inf files without the usual setup.exe, do not despair, this driver can also be installed.
Instructions
Step 1
Start Device Manager. This can be done through the control panel or through the computer properties, which are available in the My Computer context menu. Examine the list of devices. Any devices not installed will be marked with yellow question marks. Click on the undefined device with the right mouse button and select "Update drivers". The Found New Hardware Wizard starts. Click on the item "Search for drivers on this computer", which implies a manual search for files.
Step 2
In the next window, specify the path to the sys file. Click the browse button and expand the directory tree one by one to the folder with the sys file. Click "OK" to confirm your choice. Click next to start the driver installation process. If the Installation Wizard recognizes a suitable driver in the sys and inf files, the driver installation will start automatically. If these files do not fit the specified device, the "Wizard" will offer to specify a different path for the driver location.
Step 3
If you received a sys file without an inf file as a driver for a device, then the installation wizard will not be able to automatically recognize the driver. Try copying the sys file to the Windows drivers folder - the System32 directory, the drivers folder. And then start searching for hardware and automatically installing the device. It is also worth noting that such files can be infected with various malicious programs that automatically spread on the Internet, information carriers, and copy important data, transferring them to the creator. Therefore, try to scan all files with antivirus software to be completely sure of the integrity of the files.
