Protecting your data from prying eyes is a natural desire of any person. Unfortunately, standard operating system tools do not provide us with reliable protection for our personal files. You can use archivers that can not only pack folders and files into archives, but also install password protection on them.

Necessary

In order to set a password for the archive, we need any archiver, for example WinZip or WinRar

Instructions

Step 1

To set a password using the WinRar archiver, select the folder, file or group of files you need and, right-clicking, select "Add to archive". In the window that appears, enter the name of your new archive, and on the "Advanced" tab, click the "Set password" button. A window will open where you will need to enter your password. Enter your password and click OK. After a while, which will depend on the number and size of the selected files, the archive with the set password will be created.

Step 2

To set a password using the WinZip archiver, do the following: select the files, right-click, select "WinZip" and then "Add to Zip file". In the dialog box that opens, select a name for the new archive and check the box next to "Encrypt added files". The archiver will ask you to create a password. Enter your password and click OK. The archive will be created and the password will be set.
