How many centimeters is the diagonal of your 32-inch TV? How many centimeters are there in an inch? Such questions often arise before us. Finding the answer will be surprisingly easy if you have a laptop or computer running Windows 8.1 at your fingertips.

Step 1
Windows 8.1 has two calculators at once. If you open the home screen and start typing the word "calculator", you will see two application icons at once. One of them is for the Desktop mode. But we are more interested in the second program - for the Modern interface, which used to be called Metro.
Step 2
In the new calculator Windows 8.1, several modes are implemented at once: normal, engineering and converter. Switching is carried out by selecting the desired tab in the upper menu of the program. The usual one almost completely repeats the application for the Desktop. But the engineering mode will allow you to do much more: trigonometric functions, logarithms, raising a number to an arbitrary power, extracting a root, and so on. All actions are displayed sequentially on the screen for easy checking. The Converter mode allows you to understand the conversion of units of measures of length, volume, weight, temperature.
Step 3
For example, to convert inches to centimeters, select Length in the upper box. Then indicate the number of inches and the direction of translation - in centimeters. The calculator will perform the calculation instantly and without the need for an Internet connection, which is important, for example, when traveling across Europe. Here, the mobile Internet is expensive, and the measures of weight, volume and length are unfamiliar. It is convenient to use such a calculator using the touch screen.
