Without going into details, the video consists of a sequence of still images. By simple manipulations, any of these images can be saved as a separate graphic file.
Necessary
- - graphics editor;
- - CyberLink PowerDVD player;
- - Movie Maker program;
- - VirtualDub program.
Instructions
Step 1
To capture a frame from a video, you can use the "Image Capture" option, which exists in some players. In particular, the CyberLink PowerDVD player allows you to capture a frame from a video. To save a frame using this player, open the video in this player. This can be done by right-clicking on the video file's icon and selecting "Open with" in the context menu. Select the player in the list of programs and click on the "Open" button. After clicking in the desired place on the scroll bar or playing the video up to the frame that you want to save, click on the "Pause" button. Copy the frame to the clipboard by clicking on the "Image Capture" button. Open any graphics editor and create a new document in it. In Photoshop, the size of the new document will default to the size of the image copied to the clipboard. The same will happen if you use the Paint editor. Paste the image into the created document by pressing Ctrl + V and save the resulting image in jpg, png, bmp or tiff format.
Step 2
If you want to capture a frame from the video you are editing, you can use the frame grabber option in Movie Maker. You need to move the cursor to the fragment of the timeline where the frame you are interested in is located. You can start video playback using the button located under the player window. When you reach the desired frame, click on the "Pause" button. Click on the button "Take a picture", which is also located under the player window. In the window that opens, specify the location on the computer where the captured frame will be saved. Specify the name of the file to be saved and click the "Save" button.
Step 3
The VirtualDub program allows you to save frames of the video loaded into it in two versions: without the applied filter and with the filter. If you process video in this program and want to save a frame of the original video, move the cursor to this frame and press the key combination Ctrl + 1. Create a new document in a graphics editor and paste the copied frame from the clipboard into it. If you need to capture a frame of video with VirtualDub filters applied, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + 2. Paste the frame saved in the clipboard into the document of the graphics editor. Save the resulting image as a jpg, png, bmp or tiff file.
