The DVD format is extremely easy to play on consumer DVD players. It perfectly solves the problem of compatibility and allows you to encode videos in high quality. However, for other devices, this format is far from ideal. The movie recorded in DVD format is too large and fragmented into parts, which, moreover, have incomprehensible names. Step 1
Copy the DVD to your computer. To do this, just drag the source VIDEO_TS folder to the desired directory. Or use the more traditional method: open the disk, select the folder with the mouse and select Copy from the Edit menu. Then go to the folder where you want to burn the disc, and in the "Edit" menu click "Paste".
Step 2
Install the "Auto Gordian Knot" program on your computer and run it. The program window will open with many settings. All the elements in the program window are typical for this kind of utilities, and it will not be difficult to understand them.
Step 3
Select the DVD source file type from the drop-down list to access the desired functionality. Then specify the path to the "IFO" file. This file is located in the VIDEO_TS folder, which by this time should already be on your computer. After that you can either click on the "Start" button to start transcoding, or continue the setting to set the "rip" parameters in more detail.
Step 4
Select an audio track for the future avi file. This option is only available if the source video has multiple audio tracks. If you leave this option as default, the program will select the first track. Check the corresponding box if you want to add subtitles. In the event that the DVD contains subtitles, they will be available in the program in the drop-down list. Only one option can be selected.
Step 5
Next, specify the required size of the output file. As a rule, on average, a movie can fit on 1 CD, that is, its size can be about 700mb.
Step 6
Finally, if necessary, click the preview to make sure everything suits you. This function is especially useful for monitoring when recording video with subtitles.
Step 7
Finally, if you want to add one or two more films for transcoding, put them in the queue. To do this, click "Add Job". Thus, you can put on several films at night, and get the finished result in the morning.
Step 8
When everything is configured properly, click "Start" and the transcoding will begin. Since this process is quite resource intensive, it can take a long time.
