Dragon Age is one of the most popular role-playing projects of recent times. Players have access to a world with many possibilities, varied gameplay and a dozen options for passing. However, the main thing is that the product gets along very comfortably with amateur modifications, which allows expanding the in-game content almost indefinitely.

Instructions

Step 1

Official add-ons are installed automatically. The user is required to download the DLC distribution, run it and follow the instructions of the installer. Then - start the game, go to the "downloadable content" menu item, log in with an EA or BIOWARE account (this is a prerequisite) and, if required, enter the codes sent along with the DLC.

Step 2

If the downloaded mod is in.dazip format, then installation is done using the "Daupdater" program, which can be found in the root directory of the game. After launching the software, click on the "Select DAZips" button, then select all the downloaded files that you want to install. Then click "Install Selected": the add-ons will be installed in the "My Documents" → "BioWare" → "DragonAge" folder. Then, open the "Settings" folder in this directory and edit the AddIns.xml file: find all the lines "RequiresAuthorization =" 1 " and change the right side to "0". Start the game and in the already mentioned section "Downloadable content" select "Installed content" and put a checkmark in front of all installed add-ons.

Step 3

If you download an add-on containing updated textures, you will have to install them manually. To do this, open the game directory and go to "packages" → "core" → "override" and place everything downloaded there. Do not forget to make backups when you have to replace a file: if the modification turns out to be inoperative, then you can return everything as it was. More sophisticated installation methods are also possible: if there is a "readme" file in the archive with the mod, then check if there are any special instructions for a particular modification.

Step 4

You can simplify your life by using DAModder and DAO-Modmanager (they are essentially the same). These are programs that are analogous to Daupdater, but an order of magnitude more convenient: they can be used to install not only modifications, but also textures. You do not have to directly work with files, everything is limited to just pressing the "Install" button in the program menu.
