Excel is a spreadsheet editor included in the popular Microsoft Office suite of office programs. Today it is the most common application for working with relatively small data sets, providing the user with a very wide range of tools. Basically, the functions of the program are designed for users with a minimum level of training, but there are also advanced features that allow you to largely automate the processing of tabular data.
Microsoft Office Excel allows you to create tables of any structure - with combined row or column headings, with a different number of columns and rows in different areas of the tables, or even with tables inserted into each other with their own scroll bars. The maximum number of columns in one sheet of an Excel document is 16,384, and the limit for rows is 1,048,576. But if this is not enough, the continuation of the table can be placed on any number of sheets of the document - their number is limited only by the amount of computer memory.
The program allows you to both enter data manually and read them from files of some common formats - simple text, text with delimiters, in the Access DBMS format, etc. There are many ways to process the entered data in Excel - from elementary sorting with setting the priority of columns to complex mathematical calculations with the output of the results in a separate table. All this can be done both using the buttons of the application interface and by introducing the functions of the built-in programming language into the cells. In addition, the spreadsheet editor has the ability to record the sequence of your actions when working with the table, and then reproduce this sequence by simply calling a macro.
The results of the analysis of tabular data Excel allows you to present both in the usual numerical format and in graphical form. The application has a large number of chart templates, and the built-in customization tools make the number of design options endless. For the convenience of reading the data or for making presentations, you can color the tables themselves. In addition to decorating borders, headers, text, you can, for example, set a smooth transition of the background color of cells depending on the values they contain, or automatically highlight the maximum and minimum numbers, etc.
